SINGLE REVIEW: CAPITAL EYE - LIPSTICK KISS
In the past few years, the world of Indie rock has grown tired and stagnant. With major league bands like 'Franz Ferdinand' and 'Kaiser Chiefs' turning their backs on guitars and rock music and younger bands struggling to gain exposure unless they play bland and synth heavy music; the genre is in desperate need of a kick up the backside.
Thank god then for the new generation of indie and alternative bands that are currently emerging across the UK. Brit-rock appears to be on the crest of a new wave with bands as varied as 'Bengal Lancers', 'Avenoir' and 'Kid Kapichi' all making waves within their respective scenes. Yorkshire four-piece 'Capital Eye' are the latest band to join the ever growing assembly with their new single 'Lipstick Kiss'.
Safe to say, 'Capital Eye' are bringing the rock back to indie as the song starts with a killer lead riff that resonates throughout the track and features a brilliant guitar solo. Vocalist Scott Baxter has a voice perfect for this genre as his voice glides above the instrumentation in a wonderfully upbeat chorus that will remain stuck in your head for days. Meanwhile Danny Jackman's bass and Kyden Woodhead's drums keep the band held tightly together in a concise package of radio friendly rock and roll.
As 'Capital Eye' continue to build momentum we hope to hear more from them in the future, for now though 'Lipstick Kiss' is a great start.
