SINGLE REVIEW: TANCRED - REVIEWS
‘Reviews’ is the new single from American singer/songwriter ‘Tancred’ and the first release for her upcoming new album ‘Nightstand’ which is scheduled for release at the start of June.
In a recent interview with NPR Music singer/songwriter Jess Abbott said “This new album takes a step back from the energy of my last album to bring in a little more vulnerability” this is clear from the start with ‘Reviews’. Anyone who was expecting a carbon copy of 2016’s ‘Out Of The Garden’ shouldn’t hold their breath as ‘Reviews’ takes a very different direction. The core ingredients are the same with upbeat music playing as a backdrop to sombre lyrics, but the outcome is less rocky. This is not to say that ‘Reviews’ is a step backwards for ‘Tancred’, Abbott’s voice shines throughout and the song is very catchy. It could benefit from having a bit more of a kick towards the end, but as a teaser for the new record, ‘Reviews’ is enough to get us excited to hear what is coming next.
